The age-old weight-loss narrative. This is a sensitive subject for many individuals around the world because the path is not the same for everyone. Each of us has our own set of goals and challenges. Nobody has it easy, from hormone issues to physical ailments. One woman has captured the attention of the entire world after sharing her weight loss and fitness journey on social media. Her results were so impressive that she went viral!
Lexi Reed was adamant
The protagonist of this narrative is Lexi Reed, a powerful woman from Indiana in the United States. Lexi was previously a woman who didn’t care much for a healthy living, but one day she decided enough was enough and made some substantial lifestyle adjustments that improved her health tenfold while also facilitating a dramatic amount of weight reduction.
Women’s Health Magazine caught wind of her success and interviewed her. She consumed about 6000 calories every day. As a result, this resulted in adverse weight gain that was, to put it mildly, debilitating. She weighed 485 pounds as a result of a diet of fried food and takeout. Her husband and she both disliked veggies, and they rarely spent an evening cooking at home. «Home cooking was never the norm, and neither were veggies.» I was dining out frequently, and because I enjoyed anything fried, it was mainly fatty fast food.»
Lexi’s husband, fortunately, is incredibly supportive of her quest. She even talked him into joining her workouts. He eventually started eating her healthy meals as well. When they were down, they inspired one other and reminded each other of their aspirations. The motive they shared was that they wanted to be parents and that reducing eight pounds and being in shape would make it feasible.
«We also want to be parents, so that really drove us on the days when we didn’t feel like working out,» Lexi explained.
Her perseverance paid off!
Weight loss is not always easy to attain, and it is typically a gradual process. Many people give up because there is no immediate gratification. Lexi Reed has lost over 300 pounds! And she and her husband shed 400 pounds together, which her supporters believed was a significant accomplishment. Lexi has over 1 million followers since she began posting about her struggle. This surprised Lexi and her husband, who had assumed that no one would be interested in their journey. «I imagined maybe I’d have 10 Instagram followers,» she explained. I started it because I didn’t want my posts to offend all of my Facebook friends.»
Once her page started to grow in followers, she realized the impact that her success had on so many people around the world.
“It’s crazy. I didn’t expect to be noticed,” she admitted. “But it’s been really cool for Danny and me to be able to share our story. If we can help inspire somebody that’s what we want to do. We’re just small-town Indiana people going with the flow.” She made it her mission to inspire those who want to live a healthy lifestyle. “I feel responsible for a million people on the internet daily.” Said Lexi.
Lexi Posts to Inspire
Her posts are centered around body positivity and maintaining motivation with a healthy approach. In a recent post, she said: “I didn’t feel as small or confident as I did the last time that I was there or that I was on the beach but I refuse to cover this body or let that hold me back. All bodies are beach bodies!”
When asked, Lexi’s message for everyone is: “It’s not about the weight you lose, it’s about the life you gain. This shows that this was not something to soothe her ego, but rather to live a happier, more active, and more involved life!
Since Lexi began her weight loss journey she has inspired so many. It comes as sad news to hear that Lexi has become ill with what was described as a “mystery illness.” In February of this year, Lexi’s husband Danny Reed shared a shocking photo of his wife in the hospital.
In the caption, he wrote, “A few weeks ago Lexi kept getting sick and couldn’t keep any food down. She then started acting differently so I took her to the hospital where they admitted her into ICU, placed her on a medically induced coma, on a ventilator, and me that her organs started failing.”
Lexi has since recovered but is on dialysis and they are still unsure what is causing her condition. We wish Lexi and her husband the best and hope she gets well soon.
